BANGALORE, India. (November 24, 2014) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the opening of a new proteomics center in Bangalore, India. Syed Jafry, senior vice president and president, APAC and emerging markets, Thermo Fisher Scientific, was on-hand to officially open the facility.
We took this opportunity to speak to the Senior management of Thermo Fisher Scientific and understand their future plans:
Mass spectrometry-based proteomics plays an increasingly important role in driving discoveries in the field of life science research and healthcare, from the discovery and validation of new disease biomarkers to the creation of novel diagnostics tests.
Thermo Fisher’s new facility in Bangalore will enable customers across India to experience innovative technologies used in proteomics research, including the Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap™ high resolution mass spectrometer platform. The facility is also home to advanced analytical technologies such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion chromatography (IC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), UV-visible spectrometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
In addition to showcasing Thermo Fisher’s technologies, the facility will also host training workshops to help users refine their understanding of how to use Thermo Fisher’s instruments and software in their unique laboratory workflows.
“We commissioned our Bangalore Customer Experience Center in June with unique genomics and molecular biology capabilities, and now we’re proud to add an entirely new experience for our customers working on proteomics,” said Mr. Jafry. “We are confident that this center will help our customers choose the technologies that best support their unique workflows.”
“We are excited to add this new proteomics center to our other customer support centers located across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Nasik,” said Amit Chopra, managing director and VP/GM for Thermo Fisher Scientific in India. “Alongwith innovative technology, we are committed to offering customized technical support to our customers working in proteomics and genomics including application and method development, method transfer, user training, onsite and offsite troubleshooting and validations.”
“This center will allow us to partner with our customers to develop solutions for India’s pressing needs in the areas of healthcare, food security and safety” added Dr. Kapil Khullar, director of chromatography and mass spectrometry for Thermo Fisher in India.
